Wow, you made it through the first trimester! How exciting! Your body has changed so much and your babe will soon be here.

The third trimester is often when the pregnancy starts to get “real” for many people. You are well past the halfway point and you’ll be in the delivery room before you know it. This is when your baby really starts to become larger and more active and when you may notice some of the most drastic physical changes.

Stretch Marks

This is one of the most dreaded pregnancy issues for most women. It doesn’t happen to everyone but it does happen often… There’s not much you can do to avoid this, but some say putting on a really good moisturizer will help. After pregnancy using vitamin E and Retinoids can be helpful.

{{Want Free Baby Stuff? Check out This Post Right Here to get $100 of Free Baby Stuff! Really! }}

Nesting Instinct

The Nesting Instinct can come on strong during the last half of your third trimester and it’s kinda fun. You can get a lot done during this period and it feels really good to be prepared. Enjoy it!

Hemorrhoids are a real bummer and they can hurt. There are Hemorrhoid creams like Dr. Coles Hemorrhoid Treatment, That will help to relieve your pain. You can also sit on a special cushion like Kieba Hemorrhoid Treatment Donut. They’re both found on

Unique, eco-friendly products chosen just for you and your little one!

Leaky Breasts

As your Breasts prepare for breastfeeding they can begin to leak a bit. This doesn’t happen to every woman because often times milk comes in after the birth but don’t be surprised if it does happen to you.

More Weight Gain

Much like with the second trimester, you should try to stay at a pace of gaining about a half pound to a full pound a week. While the rate will remain the same, it may feel a lot heavier because you’re really growing now.

Frequent Urination

Due to the increased size of the baby, the head may be pressing down on your bladder causing you to go to the bathroom more often. You will likely be waking up in the middle of the night several times to urinate and might possibly leak urine when you sneeze or laugh. Try not to drink many fluids before bedtime so that you can sleep more soundly without interruption. You need that sleep!

Intense Dreams

Some people report having many vivid dreams during the third trimester. Doctors generally attribute this to the rapidly rising hormones in your body and it’s no biggy. Many women report having sexual dreams and orgasms in their sleep.

More Fatigue

You will probably begin to notice that your fatigue levels are higher than they were during the second trimester, with even mild physical exercise tiring you out. The fatigue is usually not as bad as the first trimester though so at least there’s that.

To help boost your energy a bit, You can still remain active by walking every day and taking pregnancy yoga classes that are catered to help you stay healthy.

Braxton Hicks Contractions

These mild contractions are a way to prepare your body for real labor that will be coming in the future. At first, they’ll be milder than standard labor contractions and probably won’t come very regularly. If you notice them increasing in frequency or becoming more intense, call your doctor.

By the end of the third trimester, they may get slightly painful and be a little more intense. It’s a normal part of pregnancy.

As you get closer to birth your tummy will start to drop some. This means you’re getting closer to the big day and the baby’s head is dropping and engaging in the proper position. It can happen for weeks or days before birth.

 Shortness of Breath

Because your uterus has expanded to reach up to your rib cage, your lungs don’t have enough room to expand at this point. This may result in shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. You can help alleviate this through regular, mild exercise and propping your head up when you sleep.

Your fingers, toes, hands, face, and ankles may all start to swell as a result of fluid retention. You can fix swelling in your feet by elevating your legs when you sleep. If you notice sudden swelling, it is important to seek immediate medical attention because this can lead to dangerous complications.

The third trimester is the most exciting trimester because you are very close to meeting your babe. There are many changes still to come in the final three months but it will be over before you know it so enjoy it while it lasts.

It will all be worth it in the end when you give birth to your precious boy or girl.

Cheers to having a healthy babe!

What To Expect During The Second Trimester

Increased Weight Gain

Weight gain will increase rapidly, and you’ll probably be gaining about a half pound to a full pound every week, maybe more. It’s helpful that morning sickness usually goes away after the first trimester, so you’ll have a better appetite and be able to add the extra 300 to 500 recommended calories a day.

It can be easy to fall into a trap of overeating, so use a calorie counter if you find that you are eating too much. You’ll certainly be hungry, but you want to be smart with your food habits.

Congestion is one of the most annoying pregnancy issues and it will last, for most women, until the end of pregnancy. This happens because there’s increased blood flow to your mucous membranes including your nose. It may even cause you to snore!

You can take over the counter decongestants that are safe during pregnancy on the really bad days to get some relief.

Second Trimester of pregnancy

Leg Cramps

Leg cramps can be painful and they certainly can increase during pregnancy during the second and third trimester. This happens because of hormonal fluctuations and mineral imbalances. If you get a really painful leg cramp flex your foot immediately to deactivate the spasm before it gets bad. This works well to relieve most of the pain.

A backache

With the extra weight you’re gaining in the second trimester, you’ll experience more and more pressure on your back.

Wearing comfortable shoes with adequate arch support is important during this time, as is practicing good posture. You should have a chair that promotes sitting straight up and provides plenty of back support. Sleeping on your side with a pillow between your legs can also help relieve aches and pains.

If you feel that the pain is too uncomfortable, Maybe consider getting a pregnancy massage. That’s a lovely way to pamper yourself during your special time!

What Really Happens During the First Trimester.

The Psychology Of being A New Mother, How you’ll feel and What To Expect

Achiness In Your Growing Abdomen

You may experience some aching and pulling sensations as the ligaments in your abdomen begin to stretch. Sometimes it will feel as if you are getting a muscle spasm in your sides and it can be fairly painful. Lying flat on your back for a few moments can relieve some of the pain.

Loose Teeth

This is a side effect of pregnancy that’s often not discussed. The same hormones that cause your ligaments to stretch and your body to loosen up can cause your teeth to get a little Jiggly. It’s not uncommon and they will tighten back up after the baby comes.

Dizziness is very common during this time, especially if you stand up too quickly. Just be sure to get plenty of water and hold on to something when you stand up.

Growing A cup Size

Your Breasts will rapidly change at this point, especially towards the end of this trimester so you may need new bras. They do get much less sensitive during the second trimester though.

Hair Growth

The hormones you are experiencing now can often promote hair growth, and it may even be found in places you never noticed before. Thicker hair on your head can be a good thing, but you might also notice hair on your face, arms, and back. Shaving and tweezing can help, even though they may not be exactly pleasant.

Quickening is the feel of flutters in your abdomen, which is generally from the movement of the baby. This will probably not be all-out kicks, but you’re likely to notice some sort of movement. Some women, however, don’t experience quickening until the sixth month of their pregnancy.

Pregnancy “Glow”

While some women get this glow early on in their pregnancy, it is common for it to happen in the second trimester due to hormones that make the facial skin appear flushed.

This also makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so make sure to use sunblock on days when you are going to be outside for long periods of times. Cheers to looking Pregnant and Pretty!

Some of the Symptoms in the second trimester are no picnic but they are exciting all the same and it’s fascinating to watch your body grow and change.

Enjoy this easy stage of pregnancy!

What To Really Expect During The First Trimester Of Pregnancy

What To Really Expect During The First Trimester Of Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a very happy, exciting time. Congratulations to you!!

I absolutely loved pregnancy for the most part, but it was also a bit terrifying at times.  This is true Especially if it’s your first time around.

So Let’s Talk about the first trimester. This is the period between 1 and 12 weeks. Some women really thrive during this period and others feel pretty bad. It all depends on so many factors and it can be different each time.

There are many changes going on in your body and it can be really overwhelming, even if you’ve read up on them,  and they can feel very unexpected. While every pregnancy is different, there are certain things that will happen to most people, so it’s important to be prepared for them.

{{Want Free Baby Stuff? Check out This Post Right Here to get $100 of Free Baby Stuff! Really! }}

The first trimester may be the most confusing time for some, with major changes taking place despite your bump not necessarily becoming visible. Here are some of the things that you can expect in the first trimester.

And How To Take The Fear Out Of Childbirth

Morning Sickness

This is one of the main symptoms everyone talks about and fears the most. It certainly can be pretty rough and it will vary from person to person and with each pregnancy as well. I only really got sick during my third, So you may not even get it.

One way to fight morning sickness is to eat bland, carb-rich foods like crackers and muffins, stay hydrated and get plenty of rest. Make sure you eat enough because if your stomach is too empty it can make you feel worse. An Empty Tummy sure seems to bring on the Nausea…

You can also whip up some Ginger tea. It really does work well by relaxing your stomach muscles. I used it daily.

You may have to stay home from work some days if it gets too bad so be prepared for that as well. If it get’s really bad, there are meds your doc can prescribe that are safe for you and your babe. Don’t feel bad if it comes down to that. Just talk to your doctor.

Food Aversions

This is another biggy. Most Women here about how they’ll have all these cravings and want some very specific foods. This is true to some degree but a lot of women have food aversions too. I sure did. There were foods I thought I would never eat again in my life while preggo. The thought, smell, and look of them made me horribly sick!

This can make things difficult when you’re hungry all the time and all the food you loved before grosses you out.

You will need to look for healthy alternatives that will make you feel full and happy.

Bleeding And Cramping

Close to 25% of pregnant women have some slight bleeding during the first trimester. Light spotting may happen and is relatively common. However, if the bleeding is immense or comes with significant pain, you should call your doctor as it could be indicative of a bigger problem.

You may also experience some serious cramping and that can be really scary. When I was pregnant with my first I had extreme cramping and I was terrified I would miscarry but everything was just fine. I read that the cramping can occur when the egg is digging deeper into your uterine lining so it’s pretty normal to experience this overall.

If your cramping lasts more than an hour or so and it’s very intense, then go ahead and contact your OBGYN but try not to panic.

First Trimester pregnancy

Sore Breasts

Your hormones will be changing in order to prepare milk ducts to feed your baby, so breast tenderness is one of the most common occurrences during the first trimester. Wearing support bras or going up a size can help you alleviate the pain involved in this process.

They will become very sensitive all around so be prepared for this. I couldn’t even let the water in the shower hit my nipples directly.

Join ACOP!

This is the worst part ladies, I’m not going to lie. There’s nothing in the world like First-trimester Fatigue. You will want to sleep 20 hours a day, I kid you not.

Your body has never worked harder then it is right now and you need so much rest to support both you and the baby growing inside of you.

So take it easy in every way. Get help at every opportunity. Find ways to take it easy during this period and let go of some responsibilities that can be dealt with later.

One more thing, make sure you get enough iron,  you don’t want to suffer from anemia which will make the fatigue even worse.

Hormonal changes in your body during the first trimester can relax the muscles of your lower esophagus, which means that acid reflux can become more common. You’ll want to eat smaller meals throughout the day to prevent this, and avoid spicy, greasy, or acidic foods that are known to contribute to heartburn.

This never happened to me but I know it can be really bad for some so watch out for the first signs of it and pay attention to what you’re eating.

Weight Gain

This is an obvious sign of pregnancy, but you should only gain about 3 to 6 pounds during the first trimester. In the first 3 months, you really only need to eat about 250 to 300 more calories per day to support your baby, so the scale won’t move too much just yet.

With that being said, Don’t go crazy and eat everything your heart desires. I know that can be hard but eating too much and becoming overweight can actually have a negative effect on your baby’s development, so you should make sure to get those extra calories from healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, and lean meats.

This one’s a real bummer and can happen throughout pregnancy. Some experience in the first trimester and some don’t. Just make sure you’re eating enough fiber to keep things moving. You don’t need any added discomforts and this can be avoided for the most part.

These are a few of the main things you’ll experience during your first trimester. For most women, this period of time goes fairly smoothly and any discomfort you do have is often barely noticeable because of the excitement and anticipation you feel. That sort of drowns out all of the negative things so don’t fret too much.

Cheers to you and your growing babe! I wish you all the luck in the world and I am so happy for you mama!

Did you have any weird symptoms not found on this list? If so share in the comments.

What to expect during the first trimester of pregnancy

The Psychology of Being A New Mother, How You May Feel And What To Expect

The Psychology of Being A New Mother, How You May Feel And What To Expect

Being a new mother can be the most amazing experience but it’s also difficult and exhausting. There’s no denying the negative side of it. This happens for a lot of reasons which I know you’ve heard before; You’re not getting sleep, your body is healing, you’re on the biggest hormonal roller-coaster of your life and so on.

It’s also a challenge because of the many situations associated with the delivery and the adjustment to being a new mama. Every situation is different and can cause its own set of issues like having a c section for instance. That’s going to be rougher on you all around.

{{Want Free Baby Stuff? Check out This Post Right Here to get $100 of Free Baby Stuff! Really! }}

All of this can affect you physically and especially emotionally which creates tension and frustration during this special time. You’ll feel things you’ve never felt before and be seriously overwhelmed.

In this post, I want to talk about the emotions of your new role and how you can adjust to the overwhelm of it all. Being prepared for big feelings, highs and lows can help you feel a little bit better and you’ll know what you are going through is normal.

Let’s take a look at some of the key factors that create challenges for you and how you can cope with them.

Physiological changes

After delivery, You’ll experience a significant shift in your physical body and hormones because your body needs to readjust. You know that already, I don’t have to tell you but you’ll find it shocking and aggressive never the less. It’s just really intense.

Your body will begin to change really fast and this alone will exhaust you. But oftentimes the rush from having a newborn will elate you so much that you won’t notice the exhaustion too much at first.

But your body needs to heal and you need to pay attention to yourself during this time as well as the baby. Try to eat well and get as much rest as possible. New mamas are often so excited after birth that they ignore many of their own needs but healing needs to be at the front of your mind. Consider yourself as well as your babe so that you’ll feel your very best!

The “baby blues”

Many women feel down or depressed after having a child. This can be associated with hormonal changes but also with some psychological and emotional factors. This is normal, although many women might feel guilty about this reaction. However, It usually doesn’t last very long and it will sorta come and go. Or it typically does.

the feelings of a new mother

If it persists talk to your doctor about possible solutions. You don’t want it to get out of control and you don’t have to deal with it alone.

Giving birth is not easy but what comes after presents a significant challenge as well. A baby can change the existing household routines in unexpected ways and can mean that you are not getting enough sleep. A lack of sleep and an increased amount of responsibility can be exhausting.

Hang in there and get as much help as you can get. You’ll feel mentally and physically raw and having others there to support you is key to a smooth transition.

Emotional difficulties

Many mothers struggle to adjust to the new situation no matter how ready you thought you’d be, and it might bring a few emotional surprises you didn’t expect.  You may wonder if you are good enough and might feel inadequate, especially if reality doesn’t measure up to the “ideal” standards you might hear or read about. You may feel worried about your relationship with your partner or with the other children as well. A new family member can and will shift the dynamics of all your relationships and this can make your loved ones feel insecure.

Labor Bag Essentials: What to take when having a new baby.

When you have several children the adjustment can be very difficult for them. This may cause you to feel a good bit of guilt. I know it did for me. My first son really struggled and it broke my heart. I really thought he was ready for a sibling but it was very upsetting for him overall so be prepared for this. You will need to give extra tender, loving care to your other child/children.

Balancing demands

As I’ve already mentioned if you have other children and responsibilities, then the demands on your time and energy increase. Your other babes will demand more from you and need increased attention to make sure they are not being replaced with the new baby. All this can be difficult to handle.

Make sure your partner helps as much as possible and gives extra attention to the other children while you take care of your baby.

You should try to carve out a little bit of time each day for your other children too, maybe 10 minutes alone with each one. Even this small amount of one on one time can make them feel better and more secure.

Ways To Cope With Your Surprising Emotions

There are many factors that affect a new mother that can make the first few months difficult. It’s a transitional period for all: the parents are adjusting to the new baby and changing the household rules and routines, the children are adjusting to a new sibling, and the baby is adjusting to a new world. So, what can you do to make this easier?

  Plan Ahead

Please know right away that it won’t go as planned and many parts of your experience will feel very unexpected even though you knew what would happen. Just understanding that you’re going to be in uncharted waters { for Yourself } will help you be just a little more light-hearted. This helps tremendously.

No comparing

The ideal mother doesn’t exist but if you run to the Web or listen to the tales of others and of their own achievements as parents, you may feel like you’re failing.

You should definitely avoid comparing yourself or your situation to others and accept that there are going to be difficulties: it doesn’t make you inadequate. Celebrating and acknowledging your own achievements is a key factor in feeling good about your experience.

As I’ve said before, this is one of the most important things you can do. Resting can be difficult but it is important to give enough opportunities to rest and recover.

You might want to drop or delegate a few of the household chores that are not as pressing or seek other solutions that will allow you to rest more. Your sleep and well-being are more important than having a perfectly clean kitchen, and no matter how hard you try mama, you’ll fall behind so just chill for a while about it.

It also might be worth looking into things that can make one’s life easier, like getting food or groceries delivered or paying someone to clean up once a week.

Help and support

A very important aspect of all this is asking for and receiving enough support.

Your husband can help with chores or even other children in the home. You can have your mom or mother in law stay with you for the first few weeks to help out if that’s an option for you. I know that’s not for everyone though.

You can hire someone to come in and help a bit as I mentioned before.

You can have friends over for physical and emotional support. It’s always good to have someone to talk to and just expressing yourself fully can be a great mental release.

If things are really bad in some way, Physically or emotionally then you can contact your doctor for help. Don’t get too deep you know? They can help support you and give you the help you need.

Most importantly just be prepared for the ups and downs and the vast array of feelings that will bubble up that you’ve never experienced before. Embrace those happy feelings and when you start to feel really tired or down then that’s your cue.

It’s your cue to get more rest immediately, ask for some help or eat a big hearty meal. Maybe take a long hot shower then watch some tv and don’t worry about those dishes in the sink. I know that’s hard but you have to learn to prioritize. It will eventually get easier.

I want to wish you all the luck and love in the world mama and take one day at a time. It will get better and you’ll feel stronger soon enough!
