Use A Hairband To Remember Which Side You Nursed From Last

It’s easy to forget which breast you fed from first when you’re a tired, sleep-deprived Mama. It’s important you know which breast was first because your babe will drink more milk out of that first one.

In time this can cause an uneven distribution of milk production within the breast. So you need to alternate which one you feed from first each time. Using a hairband on your wrist will help you remember.

How To Firm Up Your Sagging Breasts After Breastfeeding

How To Firm Up Your Sagging Breasts After Breastfeeding

So You’ve breastfed your babe { or Several Like Me ] for a while and you didn’t really take care of your boobs the way you should have. You now look in the mirror and get a bit of a nasty surprise. Sigh…..

Unfortunately, Breastfeeding can really damage the breasts. If you’re still breastfeeding there are several things you can do that really work to help preserve the shape you have. I wrote a post about this recently { you can find it here } that’s been really popular on Pinterest so I thought I would write a post on what you can do once the damage is done.

The breast tissue itself is fatty tissue and cannot be changed once the ligaments are stretched. But hold on.. Before you go up and hit the back button, give me a second because there are still some things you can do that will help.

You can build up the foundation under the breast and it will help dramatically. There are also a few other things you can do so let’s talk about that.

How To Improve Sagging Breasts After Breastfeeding

how to firm breasts after breastfeeding

First, Let’s Talk About Exercises

The Pushup

The classic pushup is an awesome way to build up your chest area. It won’t actually change your breast shape but it does provide a nice lift when done regularly and correctly. Here’s a video that will show you how to do it just right. I know everyone feels like they know how to do a pushup but form is really important so have a look!

Chest press

The Chest Press is another great choice and when done correctly with pushups regularly you’ll really be able to see a difference.

I do these exercises because I have breastfed for NINE YEARS between all my babes and that had a huge impact on the way my chest looked { of course }. These exercises have helped a lot.

Firming Serum

There’s a serum by Nivea that is super concentrated with Coenzyme Q10, Natural Lotus extract, and L-Carnitine. It works extremely well for firming skin and many women have used it on their chests with really good results. There are few creams or serums I would recommend for this because most are snake oil.

But this Serum has vital nutrients that have been shown to have a profound effect on skin and it just works! You can find it here on Amazon.

New Breastfeeding Posts You Should Read:

Fenugreek

I’ve mentioned Fenugreek several times in different articles because it’s been used by women for centuries for lactation and breast enhancement.

You can take it as a supplement and it will help swell the breast and lift it slightly. It does work, I use it daily.

Want FREE BABY STUFF? I have partnered with many companies to give you the best baby freebies online including Nursing Pillow, Pregnancy Pillows, Nursing Covers, Baby Leggings, Baby Clothes and so much more. You can find out how to get your freebies in this post right here.

Hot and Cold showers

Hot and Cold showers on the breast are said to release skin proteins responsible for skin tone and tightening. It may also help to enhance the blood flow to the skin, increasing elasticity and the production of collagen.  French Women Practice this and they swear by it.

When you’re taking a shower you can try it. Keep on alternating between warm and cold water for around 10 minutes. Make sure you use hot water for longer periods than cold water. End the process with cold water.

Wear a Proper Bra To Enhance Shape

Wearing a properly fitting bra is very important if you want to prevent further sagging. I highly recommend being professionally fitted and sized for one.

Wearing a pretty bra will also make you feel better about your overall appearance and that’s always helpful when you’re feeling sad or insecure about your body.

Eat Healthily

Eating well is very important for your overall skin health. If you’re getting the proper nutrients your skin will benefit greatly. Make sure you get tons of veggies, antioxidants like Chagga, and healthy fats.

Posture

Poor posture is one of the most overlooked causes of sagging breasts.  By lowering your shoulders and hunching forward, you are not giving any structural support to your breasts, and they hang freely, completely at the mercy of gravitational forces. Poor posture can also exacerbate any back pain or muscle soreness you have from large breasts, which happen to be the type of breasts that show signs of sagging most dramatically.

Plastic Surgery

Plastic Surgery is always an option of course { If you can afford it }. If it means that much to you and you’re willing to go through surgery to lift your breasts, then go for it!

Lifting your breasts after breastfeeding can be difficult if you didn’t care for them properly while nursing. I know from experience, sadly. But I have had some pretty awesome results by doing some of the things on this list so don’t give up mama. You can improve yourself bit by bit. Just commit to it and as always Good luck.

7 Things You Can Do To Prevent Sagging Breasts After Breastfeeding

7 Things You Can Do To Prevent Sagging Breasts After Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is beautiful and healthy, but I’m not going to lie to you. It does change your breasts. How much it changes them depends on how well you take care of them.

There’s no doubt that breastfeeding is rough on your boobs. They are in a constant state of flux.

During Pregnancy they swell, then after they become engorged and by the time things start to stabilize you have a baby that likes to pull, pinch and tug.

There’s no doubt they’ll be different. But you can minimize the damage. You must keep in mind, though, that every woman is different and there’s no real way to predict how things will turn out. You just need to do what you can to take care of them and hope for the best.

7 Things You Can Do To Prevent Sagging Breasts After Breastfeeding

things to do to prevent sagging breasts after breastfeedingWear A Supportive Bra

Of course, you know this… but it’s never been more important than right now. I would even suggest wearing a bra at night to help support the ligaments in your breasts. They are already being stretched and pulled with the extra weight of the breast and this happens while you sleep and move around too. Support them at ALL times. This is good advice so be sure to take it if you want to minimize sagging as much as possible. Here’s a really great nursing bra that you can wear at night that will help give you the support you need.

Exercise and Minimize Unnecessary Weight Gain

Gaining weight during pregnancy is vital for your baby’s health but gaining excess weight will only make your breast problems worse in the end. Ideally, you should be following a program while pregnant. The Belly Only Pregnancy is a great option for this. It will help keep unnecessary pounds off and you’ll have an easier birth. You can check out this program here.

If you want to start a routine after baby then the Postpartum Cure is the very best choice. This course will help you lose the baby weight without losing your milk supply. It will also help you heal diastasis recti and your pelvic floor. This is really important for your overall recovery and a program specially designed for postpartum moms is ideal. You can see it here.

You can also specifically strengthen the muscles in and around the breast by doing certain exercises. The video below gives you some good ones that you can begin as soon as your doc gives you the ok. They won’t improve the actual skin of your breast but they will pull up and firm the whole area making it look better overall.

Feed On Demand

It’s important that you feed your baby on demand. This will help prevent continual engorgement. The constant change of size can really put a lot of pressure on the breast ligaments. If you feed your baby often and when needed it will minimize this issue. You can learn all about How to breastfeed the RIGHT way in the Milkology Course. Keep Them Moisturized

Your breast skin needs moisture and nutrients just like the rest of your skin. Especially during this stressful time. Using a good vitamin E oil and Shea Butter on top is a great way to take care of this delicate tissue.

Use A Very Supportive Breastfeeding Pillow

It’s important that you have really good support while breastfeeding. If you don’t you’ll hunch over and struggle to support your child and this creates a lot of pull on the breast tissue. Your back will also hurt! Here’s the very best and most supportive breastfeeding pillow you can buy on Amazon. Here’s a good back support for you too.

Other Postpartum Health Posts:

Wean Slowly

Slow Weaning Will Allow for Slower Involution. Involution is when your breast returns back to their previous state before lactation. Weaning Slowly will give your breasts time to firm up as they change so the results from breastfeeding won’t seem so dramatic and shocking. It will also help prevent clogged milk ducts and mastitis.

Eat Right

Eating right all along the way will help keep your whole body healthy and strong, Your skin subtle and tight, and it will minimize extra weight gain. If you want to look your best and keep your breasts full and tight you need the best nutrients possible. Eat plenty of healthy fats, veggies, and fruits. Eating healthy will go a long way in helping you maintain your body’s youthfulness and health. This should always be a top priority.

If you do all these things then you will definitely minimize your breast sagging after you and your babe are done breastfeeding. I cannot promise perfection. No one can, and results will vary but there’s no doubt that this advice does help.

Best of luck to you mama with your babe and your endeavors 😉
